Capital Region Model Railway Tour – The Early Days

• The CRMRT has been running since October 2017.
• The association was formed from a group of model train enthusiasts with support from other groups including:
• OVAR (Ottawa Valley Associated Railroaders)
• SLD (St. Lawrence Division, NMRA)
• CARM (Canadian Association of Railway Modellers).
• In 2017 the Ottawa Citizen still ran “What’s on in Ottawa” every week featuring the new Tour.
• Local TV station CJOH had a local program called Regional Contact that also promoted the Tour.
• COVID caused it to be cancelled in 2020, but virtual tours in 2021 and 2022 were very successful.
• 2023 saw a return to in-home tours with 12 layouts open in 2023.
