DESCRIPTION | It’s the summer of 1948, and steam is supreme on the Canadian Northern Railway, which depicts a fictitious line between Hochelaga in the east to French River and Alderdale in the west with a branchline to Prince Edward on Lake Ontario. Long trains behind beautifully detailed, sound equipped steam engines are made up in Hochelaga, which represents a large port area like Montreal complete with large yard and engine facilities, ice house, freight house and a large passenger terminal, and head out to start their journey over 502 feet (153 m) of mainline. The Canadian Northern Railway is one of the region’s largest home model railroads. Crews can spend hours running a single train during operating sessions. All track is handlaid, and the fully completed scenery includes spectacular bridges and a rugged mountain area requiring helper service because of the steep grade. |
