Westboro Yards

DESCRIP-
TION
Every layout is based on a dream. This one began with a plan to collect HO scale models of the typical Canadian Pacific Railway steam locomotives used in and around Ottawa. But, rather than have the locomotives in boxes or behind glass, it was decided to put them to work. A rail yard layout seemed logical; it could suggest passenger service, long haul freights, mixed trains and local yard sorting and whatever scenario the owner could imagine.

The layout is a work in progress. Track is in place and wiring is being applied; shorts and other electrical issues are still being explored. Most of the buildings have been built and wired for internal lighting. Rolling stock has been gathered and locomotives are being serviced and converted to DCC operation. A visit to Westboro Yards is an opportunity to see and discuss how a layout progresses through construction to full operation.
